Cader Idris towers magnificently above the town offering walkers and climbers many opportunities for hiking and there are some fantastic walks just nearby along the stunningly picturesque Mawddach Estuary. Coed-y-Brenin forest park, which can rightly boast some of the best mountain bike tracks in Britain, is only 7 miles north on the A470, and there are many other cycle routes including a traffic-free ride from Dolgellau to the nearby resort of Barmouth. There are many other activities in the surrounding area including pony-trekking, and the Tryweryn white- water centre only 20 miles away with its world class white water.
Plas Isa makes for an ideal base for any activity break in North Wales
